A significant development has emerged in the mysterious death of celebrity manager Disha Salian, as the Mumbai Police has clarified that there is no evidence of murder or sexual assault in the case. The police also confirmed that Shiv Sena leader Aditya Thackeray has been given a clean chit, as no links were found connecting him to the alleged crime.
No Proof of Murder or Assault, Say Mumbai Police
In an affidavit submitted to the High Court on Wednesday, Mumbai Police stated that there is no medical or forensic proof suggesting that Disha Salian was either murdered or sexually assaulted. The affidavit was filed in response to a petition submitted by Disha’s father, Satish Salian, who had demanded a CBI probe, claiming that his daughter was gang-raped and killed.
Police Rely on Postmortem and Scientific Reports
The affidavit, submitted by the Senior Inspector of Malvani Police Station, reiterated that all statements from Disha’s boyfriend and her friends present on the night of the incident were verified and found consistent. It also included details of the night she died and emphasized that scientific evidence and postmortem results showed no signs of foul play.
Aditya Thackeray Seeks His Voice to Be Heard
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray, though not an official respondent in the case, filed an intervention plea asking the High Court to hear his side before delivering a judgment. He claimed that the allegations were politically motivated, calling the petition “false, baseless, and filed with political vengeance.” Thackeray argued that dragging his name into the Disha Salian case was part of a smear campaign.
Party Allegations Denied by Police
Satish Salian’s petition alleged that Disha hosted a party on June 8, 2020, attended by Aditya Thackeray, his bodyguard, and actors like Suraj Pancholi and Dino Morea. He claimed Disha was sexually assaulted during this gathering. However, Senior Inspector Shailendra Nagarkar denied these claims, stating that the 2020 closure report was backed by a complete forensic review and a clean postmortem report from Borivali center. No unusual behavior was found in CCTV footage or call records from that night
Police Urge Court to Reject the Petition
Based on the forensic and postmortem findings, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has requested the dismissal of Satish Salian’s petition. They argue that there’s no solid ground for reopening the investigation.
Lawyer Challenges Closure, Demands More Investigation
Despite police claims, advocate Nilesh Ojha has contested the closure, asserting that the initial investigation lacked depth. The court has now given two weeks for additional arguments from both sides.
